Basic information
Research conducted at the division focuses on uncertainty and optimization modeling and related methods and theory. Staff members mainly participate in research teams at engineering faculty and university departments. The division also cooperates with departments of other Czech universities (Masaryk University Brno, Charles University in Prague) as well as with other non-university institutions such as the Dukovany and Temelin Nuclear Power Plants. Cooperation is also going on with universities abroad (e.g., Texas University of Austin, University of Malta, Molde University College, University of Edinburgh). The division staff members are involved in various research activities as testified by scientific papers published in applied journals abroad and by regular participation in international conferences. They also participate on Mathematical Engineering Doctor's degree programme offering theses themes in statistics, fuzzy mathematics, and optimization models. The department has also organized several visits of foreign researchers (D. Morton from University of Texas,Austin; H. Gassmann fromDalhousie University, Halifax; S.W. Wallace from MUC Molde, and D. Suda from University of Malta, Msida).
